New Website: Rapunzel Biosciences

A website for Rapunzel Biosciences, the hair growth biotech company founded by Angela Christiano, has finally surfaced online.

It was several years ago when Dr. Christiano mentioned that she was forming a company called “Rapunzel” which was aimed at using stem cells to create hair follicle regeneration in the scalp. We did not hear anything further about this company until just this week when the website was discovered online.
The image above taken from the Rapunzel website describes the typical format we see among hair growth companies lately involving taking a sample of hair follicles from the traditional donor area, storing them in a deep freeze, and manipulating them in some way to create new multiplied hair follicles. It’s mentioned on the page that Dr. Christiano and Dr. Jahoda are the two main researchers
involved with Rapunzel, which was previously known. So far, the captions within this image are the only information found on the Rapunzel website other than Rapunzel’s contact information for industry business development. We know this project has been several years in development, but there is no indication of how close the company is to creating some sort of clinical trial. It
will be interesting to see how things shape up for Rapunzel over the next several months.

Replicel made an updated on their products saying “current planning anticipates the potential for all four products to be on the market in Japan by 2022.” and “rch-01 may be launched in Japan much earlier if Shiseido decides to do so”. Do you think 2022 is more plausible for rch-01 than 2020 since the phase 2 results are still not on the map? Is shiseido waiting for replicel to finish their testing in Europe first?

20 years later christiano finally starts a company for hair multiplication . I remember reading about her in 2001 when I first started losing hair. She said in 10 yeara hair cloning would be on the market. Took her 20 years to open a company and not even start a trial. I’m guessing at least another 10 to 15 years before anything gets released from her.

I’m more excited about the Replicel news. 2022 or earlier for release! Hopefully we will have follica, SM, Follicum and maybe tsuji all by then.

Hairguy: it is so slow going. I think also Angela Christiano’s focus is more on Alopecia Areata rather than Androgenic Alopecia, because Alopecia affects her, which drives her to find a cure. I am not holding my breath on this one for Androgenic.

I’m nothing special, but I tend to notice pattterns and my assumptions based on them tend to be in the ballpark of how it tends to turn out.

While it may be hard to tell because of the longer term scale of progress of the subject were talking about… I think things are revving up.

    I’m hopeful.

Am I jist being too optomistic?

If so, truast me… That’s a first lol

I’ve gotten no response from them lately, I know they are doing another trial for US release which is on clinical trials website, but don’t know more than that.

Don’t count on a hair loss cure in our lifetime. Pharma will stop at everything from it being released. Far too much money to be made “treating” hair loss sadly. Unfortunately this is the world we live in.

Hey Bekoo, you’ve posted the link twice which makes it a broken link.

She identified a gene in mice over 20 years ago. So what? The genetic markers for CF were found over 30 years ago. These discoveries have not led to treatment, and probably will not for at least another generation.
